Journal

Études finno-ougriennes is the only French-language journal devoted to Finno-Ugric languages and the peoples who speak them. Founded in 1964 by Aurélien Sauvageot and Jean Gergely, the journal is published once a year, in co-edition with Presses de l’Inalco, by the Association pour le développement des études finno-ougriennes (ADÉFO), which brings together French researchers specialising in this field. It welcomes contributions from French and foreign specialists in all disciplines related to the Finno-Ugric field, extended even to the Uralic family and other peoples or languages with more or less clear affinities with this family. Submitted articles are subject to peer review. The reading committee is composed of the editorial board and the scientific committee; external experts may also be consulted. Articles are published mainly (but not exclusively) in French, with two summaries in other languages, including one widely spoken language.

As a multidisciplinary journal, Finnish-Ugric Studies covers all areas of the humanities. In addition to linguistic studies, the journal publishes works on the history of peoples who speak Finnish-Ugric languages, their institutions, their cultures, particularly their literature and arts, and current events that prompt studies on the situation of these peoples in a rapidly changing continent. In addition to articles, the journal includes columns and bibliographic information and analyses.
